Wa-UWR: Three arrested over public flogging.

Two sub-Chiefs of the Waala Traditional Council and one phone repairer has been arrested by the Upper West Police Command over the public flogging of two lovers in a leaked sextape.

The suspects includes, Sidiki Osman, 62, Bushiran Khigir, a 34-year-old mobile phone repairer and Issahaku Mahama, a 70 year-old farmer and the Duuhee Naa. The arrested was aided by the Wa Naa.

According to the Upper West Regional Police Commander, Commissioner of Police (COP), Mr Peter Ndekugri the three suspects who were part of the decision-makers when the mob arrived at the palace have been remanded for further investigations.He said with the arrest of the three suspects, the police can now get to the bottom of the case.

Mr Ndekugri gave the assurance the suspects will be arraigned soon.He said preliminary information gathered by the police is that the suspects accused the boy and girl of posting a video of their sexual intercourse on social media.

Two lovers, a tricycle driver and a ticket seller (Names withheld) at the Wa main Market in the Upper West Region have been given 20 canes each for leaking their sex tape on social media.

This was after the Overlord of the Waala Traditional Area, Wa-Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV ordered their caning.

It is alleged that the lady in question uploaded the video on social media on Sunday, May 29, 2022.

The directive controlled the leakage of sex tapes for some time but after that, the couple leaked, and many were upset after seeing another leaked tape.

The Waala Traditional Area constituted a by-law in late 2021, banning such practices after it was observed that leaking sex tapes had become normal amongst the youth in the area.

The Overlord of the Waala Traditional Area has warned people against leaking their sex tape or nude photos and that, who ever disobey the By-laws of the Traditional Area shall face the full regor of the law.
